Day 1: Golden Circle Complete

Along with visiting Gullfoss, Geysir and Thingvellir which composes the Golden Circle, we visit other interesting places like Efstidalur, a family farm, Faxi waterfall, the crater Kerið and Geothermal Power plant exhibition, Hellisheiðavirkjun.

Complete Program for Day 1
Hellisheiðavirkjun, Kerið & Faxi Waterfall Pick up is from 9 - 9.30 at your accommodation in Reykjavik. We’ll head out of the city and in just a half an hour we have arrived at our first stop, The Geothermal Energy Exhibition Hellisheiðavirkjun. The exhibition has recently opened and is very informative. It uses many different multimedia ways to exhibit in a fun way. Close by is the volcanic crater lake Kerið and we will pay a short visit there. The Icelandic singer Björk once held a concert there, it has great acoustics, you can try it yourself! On our way to Gullfoss & Geysir we pass a beautiful waterfall, Faxi that we‘ll take a look at. Gullfoss and Geysir After the warm up, we‘ll meet Gullfoss, the most powerful waterfall in Iceland! It‘s one of Iceland‘s highlights and the feeling that comes up facing this nature wonder is extreme! At this time there will be lunch break, where we‘ll stop at a local place for food. When full, we go over to Geysir‘s hot spring area where we get to see Strokkur spout steaming water high up in the sky Efstidalur and Lake Laugarvatn Next up is Efstidalur, a charming family farm where they produce their own ice cream from the cows we also get to meet. You have to try it – the ice cream tastes soooo good! We pass a small town called Lake Laugarvatn where we‘ll take a look at the geothermal area located there before we close our Golden Circle with a visit to Thingvellir National Park. Thingvellir National Park Thingvellir holds a lot of important history for Iceland but Althingi at Thingvellir was Iceland's supreme legislative and judicial authority from its establishment in 930 until 1271. As well it holds geological history but the Eurasian and American tectonic plates meet here. The area is magical and Öxarárfoss and Thingvellir have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From Thingvellir we return back to Reykjavik where you can rest and save up some power for the next day.

Day 2: Inside the Volcano - Thrihnukagigur magma chamber

Next up is a day trip to Thrihnukagigur magma chamber which is one of the most remarkable natural phenomenons on the planet! The tour includes a 45- 50 minute hiking to get to the crater. In an open cable lift you’ll be taken down 120 metres (400 feet) to the bottom of the volcano’s magma chamber. An opportunity you can’t let down.

Complete Program for Day 2
Pick up is 40 minutes prior to departure and departure can vary. You will be picked up and taken to Lækjartorg square where the bus will depart. Driving to Thrihnukagigur (translates into Three peak crater) volcano takes about 45 minutes but the craters are located at Bláfjöll country area, next to the highland edge. One of the three peaks is a small cinder cone, standing about 35 m/100 ft higher than its surroundings. We will enter that one after approaching it walking through lava field. Descending 120 metres in a cable lift you will be brought down to the magma chamber. What welcomes you is a magnificent, colourful and huge area, the size of three basketball courts. It’s huge but don’t worry, the volcano is dormant so there are no chances of eruption. You will spend up to one hour inside the crater. While waiting for others returning from the crater you will have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Icelandic meat soup, hot coffee / tea / chocolate and perhaps some sweets. This trip takes 5 - 6 hours all together and when finished you will be brought back to accommodation in Reykjavik.

Day 3: Glacier Wonderland - Adventure Day Tour

Last but not least we will enter Glacier wonderland. From Reykjavik with stops at beautiful sights on our way, we’ll arrive at Langjokull glacier, one of the largest glaciers on Earth. There, we board a huge truck which will take us to the ice cave, almost at the glacier’s peak. Here we will enter another world inside the astounding depths of the glacier.

Complete Program for Day 3
The cherry on top will be the Glacier Wonderland trip. You will be picked up at your Reykjavik accommodation from 9 – 9.30 and we will head up north. On our way to Langjokull we will pass a lot of interesting things and make some stops. Sturlureykir and Reykholt First we‘ll stop at Sturlureykir, home of the original steam punks. Back in 1907, geothermal steam was for the first time piped into a house located at Sturlureykir, used for all cooking and heating. Deildartunguhver is our second stop, (you should try to pronounce it). It is a very busy hot spring, churns out 180 liters of water per second. After that we‘ll arrive at Reykholt, a historical site. Hraunfossar Hraunfossar waterfalls will be next. It is a series of many cascades streaming over 900 metres out of a lava field, Hallmundarhraun and a treat for the eye! It was formed by a huge disruption next to Langjokull, the glacier we‘ll be visiting around the year 930. Ice Tunnels in Langjokull We will then enjoy lunch at Husafell. From Hallmundarhraun lava field we will aim for Langjokull glacier, the second largest ice cap in Iceland where we will jump on board the huge monster truck to finish our route to the ice cave. The ice tunnel is amazing and we‘ll spend around 50 minutes exploring the tunnels and all it has to offer. Returning home we will pass many beautiful sights, for instance Thorisjokull glacier and Skjaldbreidur, the original shield volcano formed 9000 years ago.
